- שָׂגַב(b. h.; cmp. גבה) to be high, exalted, strong. Pi. שִׂגֵּב to overpower (cmp. הָּקַף). Tem.16a (ref. to לבלתי עצבי, 1 Chr. 4:10) שלא יְשַׂגְּבֵנִי … מלשנות that the evil inclination may not have power over me so as to prevent me from studying; Yalk. Josh. 27 יסגפני (corr. acc.).
